STYLE GURU BIO: Macey Roth

Hey there! I am Macey Roth, sophomore at the Kent State University studying Fashion Merchandising. I am extremely blessed and overly excited to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista this semester!

Fashion has always been a passion of mine. My grandma taught me to sew when I was five years old, I have been a fashion addict ever since. As a child, I would spend hours in my room creating purses, pillows, and anything I could figure out how to sew. From there, my passion grew. My senior year of high school I created a dress entirely out of trash bags and other found materials. Aside from design, I love the business, social media, personal styling and trend forecasting side of fashion even more, which is why I decided to major in fashion merchandising.

I am from rural areas surrounding New Philadelphia, Ohio. Coming from a small town, art and fashion is not the peak of most conversations. However, I never let doubts stand in my way. People often ask me if I have ever considered another field of study, my answer has always been no. If you do something you love, you will never work a day in your life. Fashion is my outlet for creativity and self-expression. It is something I do with heart and soul. There is no other place I would rather be in my life than where I am today.

Aside from fashion being my number one love, lifting is my number two love. Stepping foot into a gym completely clears my head. It’s a time for me to think, focus and collect my thoughts. Lifting is my way to let out aggressions and relieve stress. There is no better feeling than beating a personal record and waking up sore every day. I love it!

About my outfit above, I decided to go for this striking but simple look to show off my contrasting personality. Opposites attract in every way, especially when it comes to putting outfits together. My goal for this outfit was to take a simple jean and tee combo and pair it with chic, sassy accessories to make for a comfy but trendy outfit. The floppy hat, geometric statement necklace and bright Neff watch showcase my love of fashion and bring out my inner Fashionista. Whereas the simple ripped jean and Young and Reckless boyfriend tee showcase my inner tomboy. The best fashion advice I could ever give is to be you. Clothes turn into style when one puts their own creativity behind it. I think it is so important for women to feel beautiful and comfortable in their own skin. A solid outfit can change a poor self-esteem in to a Beyoncé ego!

So I am encouraging you to embrace clothes that YOU love and that make YOU feel beautiful. Every woman deserves to feel amazing just the way she is. Confidence is key.

Again, I am extremely excited to show the world what fashion is like at Kent State through CollegeFashionista!
