STYLE GURU BIO: Lucy Lopez

Hello hello again! My name is Lucy Lopez and I am a returning Style Guru from the past two semesters and a fourth year communications major. I am so excited to be a Style Guru for this semester as it is my final two quarters of college at the University of California, San Diego. I am filled with so many emotions about graduation, but I am ready to go out into the real world! I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to be a Style Guru because it has helped me improve my writing, photography, and styling skills. I have met so many Fashionistos/Fashionistas at UCSD that I would have never had the chance of meeting if it were not for this awesome internship.

Although I prefer cold weather, I love that I can be able to wear summer wear in the winter living in Southern California. I tend to wear solid prints, which is why I am a big fan of Los Angeles-based company Reformation. I am also a huge fan that they use sustainable practices to make their killer clothing. I am wearing their off-the-shoulder long sleeve top. I love the flirty fit of this top and how it can go with any kinds of bottoms. You can buy a similar one here! I chose to wear my favorite mom jeans. I became a huge jeans fan this year! I used to only wear shorts or leggings, but it seems like this year there were more jean styles and I became obsessed with purchasing them. When it comes to shoes, I usually wear booties. However, I was running a few errands and wanted to keep comfortable so I wore my old pair of Converse sneakers.

I see style as a form of art. People express themselves through their clothing and are not afraid to make a statement. I really admire and am influenced by Kendall Jenner’s style as she is not afraid to embrace her femininity. I also find fashion inspiration from runway shows and reading articles on websites like The Business of Fashion and The CoveteurI love finding out more things about fashion as it prepares me for when I seek a job in the fashion industry. Until then, I still have a few more months to find and photograph hidden gems in San Diego and have a whole lot of darling brunch dates with my friends.
