STYLE GURU BIO: Lindsay Diggs

Hello kind reader! My name’s Lindsay. I’m a sophomore at Mount St. Mary’s University in Maryland, where I’ve spent my entire life (if you don’t acknowledge the fact that Maryland has the best flag and/or are a Pittsburgh Steeler’s fan, this may not be the right blog for you). While I haven’t officially declared, for all intents and purposes, I’m a Business major. I’d love to work in fashion, specifically in bridal wear.

Enough about me (for now!) and on to style, the reason you’re here (unless we’re friends and I’m forcing you to read this). It’s hard to put a label on my style. To say it’s eclectic would be accurate but paints a much more diverse and creative picture than what it actually is. However, if you were to say I seem to exhibit a sort of fashion identity crisis, you wouldn’t be too far off. I sometimes draw inspiration from the past. In my 19 years I’ve been lucky to do more than a fair amount of traveling and I take inspiration from the places I’ve been. Some days I just don’t care and want to be comfy; I’d be lying if I said those days didn’t happen a lot while I’m in school. A T-shirt and jeans are easy but I try putting a little personal spin on it. Again, it’s hard for me to put my specific fashion taste into words so hopefully I’ll be able to convey it through pictures these next few months.

As you can see, I sometimes gravitate towards things that could be considered preppy. I’m a Lilly lover and I bought this dress, which unfortunately is no longer available, a few weeks ago and knew right away it’d be my first day attire which proved to be a good decision. I felt pretty and confident and got a lot of compliments, setting my year off on a good foot. I didn’t want to seem too formal so I dressed it down with Old Reliable(s), my long time pair of Reef flip flips that I wear far more than any other shoes I own as they’re super comfortable, cute, and go with anything.

I feel naked if I leave home without my Pandora bracelet, lokai bracelet, and Dogeared necklace. The Pandora bracelet has charms which let me carry around reminders of memories, little meanings or just cute charms. I’ve had it for years and most outfits just feel incomplete without it. I got my lokai bracelet just before they really blew up. The meaning of the bracelet means a lot to me; I love having it on as a constant reminder of where I’ve been and where I’m headed. The Dogeared necklace was a gift from my best friend for my last birthday. These pictures were taken up at the beautiful National Shrine Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, situated on the hill above my school. It’s one of my favorite places and I often find myself there weekly. I donned my go-to sunglasses and set off on my mission, culminating in the pictures you see here.

The STYLE GURU BIO examples I looked at were all sophisticated and well written; I hope my simple attempt hasn’t fallen too flat. My interests and personality, not unlike my sense of style, can be all over the place; I hope during this semester I’m able to showcase who I am through posts as well as who some of my fabulous classmates are! Here’s to a great school year!
