STYLE GURU BIO: Lauren Albanna

Hello fellow Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Lauren, and I am a sophomore at Florida State University pursuing a degree in retail merchandising and product development. I chose this major because I have had a passion for fashion ever since I was a little girl. As a kid, I was always obsessed with picking the perfect outfit, and the second I was old enough to wear makeup–trust me I did. I had a fetish for aqua blue eye shadow and sparkly glitter eyeliner (anyone else remember that?). I even loved designing my own clothes and pretending I had my own boutique, which is actually something I would love to do one day. I love what happens when the business and fashion worlds collide, and I’m excited to see what that path will hold for me in the future.

I would define my ideal style as being classic, chic, and comfortable! However, that’s not always the case being a college student. Sometimes I find myself rolling out of bed wearing just a T-shirt and leggings to class. I am perfectly okay with that though, because comfort is key!  I like to be comfortable, because when I’m comfortable with what I’m wearing I feel good, and when I feel good, I’m happy.

Filling my closet with classic pieces that I can re-wear is a must for me. I’m not a fan of buying things once and never wearing them again. It actually makes me angry when I see something in my closet that still has a tag on it, or that I know I’ll never wear again. It probably has something to do with the way I was raised. My dad’s side of the family is pretty big on saving a penny whenever they can, and I think it pretty much runs in our blood. I am obsessed with finding good deals, and I mean OBSESSED. It’s super enjoyable to me, and being a college student on a budget makes finding deals pretty necessary anyways.

On a day to day basis I like to wear things that are casual yet cute. I think people associate the word “casual” with kind of blah or boring, but I consider it to be the opposite. A few staples in my closet include a puffer coat which is necessary for bipolar Florida weather, a pair of ripped jeans, and some lace up boots. All of which I got on sale at Target. Thank you, cartwheel! I added a little touch to my outfit by incorporating simple and elegant jewelry, like my Sam Edelman bracelet and a simple, dainty, gold pearl choker.

I’m excited for what this new year will bring, and I am looking forward to using CollegeFashionista as a platform to showcase my creativity and personal style. I’m a firm believer that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It’s all about being who you are, so if you like something, don’t be afraid to try it out! I look forward to bringing y’all the latest fashion on campus and gaining inspiration from my fellow Style Gurus. Stay tuned, my friends!
