STYLE GURU BIO: Keri Weitzel

Hello stylish humans! My name is Keri Weitzel and I am back for my second semester with College Fashionista! I spent last semester in Florence, Italy writing about trends I picked up on all across Europe. I learned so many new things about the global fashion industry (and ate as much pasta and pizza as possible). As much as I miss my semester abroad, I am beyond excited to be back in Indiana for my final year of school. I’m a senior at Indiana University studying journalism and apparel merchandising. One day I plan to be the editor of a major fashion magazine, but for now I am spending my time learning and exploring Bloomington, Indiana.

This outfit is a collection of items I found while in Europe and is inspired by everything I loved when I was a toddler (Jelly shoes and overalls). These Jelly sandals are not only a ‘90s throwback, but are also a renewed staple in my wardrobe. I was lucky to find these in London, but you can find similar sandals at Jelly Beans. These overalls are stitched with detail and may be the most worn item in my closet. I found these overalls in the Florence, but similar ones can be found at Nordstroms. Turquoise rings are my impulse-buy weakness and my round metal classic Ray-Bans are with me at all times.

As you may be able to tell, my style was born in the ‘90s, but my favorite era of fashion will forever be the ‘70s. I love to choose items that my friends would never wear and am always trying to look at fashion in a new way. I am making a point to live outside the box, whilst quirkily dressed in overalls, platform shoes and jumpsuits.

I hope you follow along with me this semester as I experience many “lasts” as a senior, but hopefully many style “firsts!”
