STYLE GURU BIO: Katelyn Verbeke

Hello my lovely CollegeFashionista readers! I’m back for my second semester as a Style Guru and couldn’t be happier. I have loved fashion from a young age. Ask my mom and she’ll tell you I loved picking out my own clothes for school and outings with her! That love never died and only grew into what it is now. My whole family is pretty stylish and so they had an influence on me as well. My cousin would always be a trend setter to me since a young age. Sometimes I found myself looking at her Facebook pictures for inspiration (Guess my secret is out!). To this day, I look up to the women in my family for inspiration!

I drew a passion for fashion when I realized how an outfit can boost anyone’s confidence and can instantly change their day. Clothing has so much power if you let it and that is what I love about it. I am a firm believer in complimenting well dressed strangers because: A. I know I love it when that happens to me and B. Why not make someone’s day? Fashion can have such an impact on people and I want to be a part of that, that is one of the reasons I became a Style Guru!

My sense of style is very all over the place. Why not be a little of everything because there is so much to choose from! One day I’ll be a Boho Princess and the next I’ll be preppy from head to toe. I love that you can do that with clothes, it isn’t like a major where you are tied down you can pick something new everyday! Feeling sporty? Go with it! Want to experiment in Goth? Do it! My motto for fashion I stole from Nike but It is “Just Do It.” You wont know until you try.

I am in my first semester at Liberty University and so far have loved every second of it. I am a double major in Digital Marketing & Advertising and Professional Sales with a minor in Clothing and Textile. Whew! That is a mouthful and sounds like a lot of work but hey I love it so why not go the extra mile? I hope to one day work in New York City (any fashion lover’s dream) for a fashion company on the business side obviously marketing is preferable but I’ll take what I can get! I cannot wait to see what this semester has in store and I hope you are, too!
