STYLE GURU BIO: Katelyn Sorensen

My fashion philosophy is to always take the time to plan your outfit, because you never get a second chance to make a great first impression. I am currently a senior studying merchandising at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and I’m thrilled to be a Style Guru this summer.

My style is unique, because it’s classic and conservative with a bit of modern flair. I hope to blend my style with the other Home Shopping Network (HSN) interns in St. Petersburg, Florida. Each intern is from a different state and brings a distinct style to the table. I am no stranger to cultural fashion differences, because last May, I had the opportunity to take a study tour to Europe. During my travels, I saw everything from high fashion in Milan to conservative Savile Row in London. I was also afforded the experience of attending Magic 2015 in Las Vegas, where the retail industry convenes to spot and shop the latest trends in apparel, footwear, accessories and resources. Overall, these experiences have inspired my creative spirit and have influenced my wardrobe choices.

I have taken numerous textiles classes, which have encouraged me to focus on the quality of my clothing choices. My everyday go-to outfit this summer is a bright-colored dress with wedges. Whenever I am working in a professional environment or meeting someone in the fashion industry, I try to dress appropriately but with a splash of color, so I can express that I’m both classy and fun. I believe the way one dresses can affect their mood and can increase their confidence. I look forward to sharing my perspective on fashion with you.
