Hello! My name is Kahina Bessai, I am 21 years old (finally) and a rising senior at St. John’s University! I major in public relations and just earned my international studies minor after studying abroad in three different countries during the spring 2016 semester. Our three campuses were in Paris, Roma and Sevilla. I learned so many things while abroad, I learned eticasy and people watching in Paris, I learned about down time in Roma with familgia and indulged in gelato, pasta and pizza throughout my entire stay, and lastly Sevilla taught me about patience and living in the moment. Europe also taught me a lot about fashion.
In each country that I lived in I learned their style, and my own style evolved from these experiences. I noticed that in Paris, no one wears a lot of bright colors or patterns, they wear a lot of black and white. Plenty of knee cut-offs in Paris, oh and do not forget the Stan Smith adidas! In Roman fashion I learned that the Romans DO wear color and patterns, which is probably why I loved Roma so much not only is the weather always beautiful but so are its people. I love florals and colored tops, don’t get me wrong I love a good black and white outfit, but I love color even more. Don’t get me started on Italian shoes, because I am obsessed and bought a few pairs! In Sevilla I noticed adidas everywhere and joggers here and there, but nothing stood out to me in Sevilla as much as the Romans and Parisians did. I learned that I now, too, love a good pair of sneakers with any given outfit, although I never purchased a pair of adidas I replaced it with what I like to wear and feel comfortable in and that for me is low top Converse or Vans.
I am currently the social media coordinator and PR intern at Iris Maya. I love my position here because I have total control to be creative on social media and represent this brand to the best of my creative ability.
