STYLE GURU BIO: Celeste Ferrin

Hey everyone! My name is Celeste Ferrin, and it’s my first semester as a Style Guru! I’m so excited to show you all the fashionable friends I find at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Everyone here has great style, obviously. It’s like getting a job at American Apparel: when you apply to this school, you have to send pictures of yourself in so the admissions board can judge your outfit. Just kidding.

Here I’m studying Fashion Business Management, but in my spare time I like to take walks around the city (I’ve come to love the subway too), blog and drink taro bubble tea. I plan to minor in Economics, but that is still a long way away.

Today, I took the successfully took the train with my friends to the West Village, and we went to Big Gay Ice Cream and walked around, which are basically two of my favorite things to do.

For this excursion, I wore a tan camisole from Forever 21, because it was fitted and it counteracted my oversized trousers. I only like to wear pants that look like an old man had previously owned them. When I thrifted these Acne Studios trousers, the tag said Women’s Pants, size 00, but I disagree. I wouldn’t be able to wear them without a belt—they are so huge—so I used a vintage French scarf to lash them around my waist. My booties are by French Connection, and they are actually not too uncomfortable to walk in. I’m obsessed with pointed toes.

Author’s note: In the city, it is just extremely difficult to find outfits that are cool, yet cool enough to wear without sweating gallons and melting in the subway. Fashion comes with a price, and it’s heatstroke.

For accessories: My clear glasses are from Warby Parker. I’m really into minimalism, except I’m trying to combat being too plain with mixing patterns more often, or neutrals like navy, black and brown. Anyway, my necklace is from Tiffany’s, and it’s the one thing I always wear with a matching silver ring from my boyfriend. Lastly, my purse is from Coach, and it is honestly the most perfect bag. It’s a great size—it can fit everything I need from my surgical masks to my hand lotion.

That’s all for now, but I’m excited to share more of my weird ways and wonderful adventures with you guys!
