It’s officially 2013 and I can’t wait to see where this year takes me. It’s time for fresh starts and amazing opportunities. CollegeFashionista has had a huge makeover and I have the feeling that this is going to be a great semester.
My name is Cassie, and I have been a Style Guru for Kent State University, in Ohio, for a year now. I’m a sophomore Fashion Merchandising student also working towards two minors, in Entrepreneurship and Marketing. When I’m not scouting Fashionistas on campus you can find me working at Tommy Hilfiger or managing my Rent the Runway Campus Rep team.
For me, fashion has always been a way of expressing myself. I haven’t ever been the type of girl to walk into a room and start chatting with strangers, nor have I been the type to vocally express my emotions all of the time. However, what I put on every morning makes up for that. In my mind, fashion and beauty are just as much an expression of yourself as anything else. I love looking back over the years and seeing how my style has evolved as I have changed. In high school I wore loads of bright colors daily, mixed patterns and was not afraid to wear something wacky. As I got older I found myself drawn to ocean colors, bohemian type jewelry and lots of lace. (It shouldn’t be a surprise that during this time I was planning on moving to Hawaii when I graduated).
These days, I continually reach for classic pieces with a twist. I like to think that my style has evolved into something more mature and chic. French-inspired even. My closet is full of black, red and stripes. And I love that I can express myself through these pieces.
I always look for those who love to express themselves through their clothes also. I’m so excited to be photographing my campus’ Fashionistas and Fashionistos for another semester. Make sure to join me every Friday for ACCESSORIES REPORT. In the words of Kate Spade, “Playing dress-up begins at age five and never truly ends!”
