STYLE GURU BIO: Carly Wilbur

Greetings, Fashionistas! My name is Carly Wilbur and this fall I will be entering my junior year at the University of Maryland, College Park. I’m working towards a dual degree in Women’s Studies and Family Science. As an individual who went to a Catholic private school for the first half of my life, I developed my own sense of style in a quick and eclectic way. All throughout high school, I experimented with different looks, the rocker look, preppy and practically any others you can think of. In a way, I still love to do this, I wear what I want based on how I feel that day. Sometimes I enjoy bright colors or pastels and other days I love my winged eyeliner and Dr. Martens.

Since I’ve been able to choose my own outfits, I’ve loved picking out and planning my outfits for the next day or, when I feel inspired, the entire week. Being in college and still trying to stay fashionable is not the easiest thing to do. Especially when you’re living in a dorm with little space or when it’s finals week and all you feel like wearing is your comfiest sweats and your hair tied in a bun, trust me we’ve all been there.

Year-round, but especially during autumn, my style revolves around the darker and neutral colors like black, grey, beige, and cream. I wear my black leather jacket and high-waisted jeans practically every day and you definitely can’t get me to part with my black booties! Fashion has always been a hobby for me and for the first time, as I write for CollegeFashionista this semester, it’s something more than that. I can’t wait to take all of you on the journey of my fashion discovery and evolvement this semester!
