STYLE GURU BIO: Amelia Kelly

Hello lovers! It’s your girl Amelia coming at you hot from the best the western suburbs of Chicago has to offer, Downers Grove. I am a sophomore at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and I am studying art history and whatever my heart desires.

Style is as unique to each person as a fingerprint, and it lasts with them just as long. It is the frontier of one’s personality, so never be afraid to own it. As Harry Winston once said, “People will stare. Make it worth their while.” Some examples of ladies who own their style are Rihanna, Kendall Jenner, Lisa Bonet, Vanessa Hudgens, Diane Kruger, Iris Apfel and Zendaya. These women all have an effortless charisma that is translated through their style, unique to themselves and chic no matter what era. True fashion is about being unapologetically yourself.

I would describe my personal style as “Wow! That girl looks comfortable!” mixed with “Only YOU could pull that off!” with a dash of “Are you sure that is appropriate?” I love wearing oversized shirts as dresses (because pants should always be optional) and Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” was actually written about my relationship with jeans. I firmly believe that a Fashionista’s best resources are all around them, and because of that, my favorite resource to utilize is my dad’s closet. My #ootd is my A-line jean skirt, which I’ve had since seventh grade—a perfect example of the cycle of trends. I am currently obsessed with my black, over-the-knee boots because they raise the level of Rihanna in any outfit.

Thank you for taking the time to read my bio and be here to start my CollegeFashionista journey with me! I am so excited to be a part of a movement that inspires young ladies and gents to express themselves through fashion and reach their highest potential.
