STYLE GURU BIO: Alicia Bryan

Yves Saint Laurent once said, “Fashions fade, style is eternal.” This is a belief Yves Saint Laurent and I have in common and fingers crossed, it’s not the only thing.

On that note, Bonjour! My name is Alicia Bryan. I hail from a small town right outside of Saratoga Springs, New York. I am a Political Science student at Siena College in “upstate” New York, not too far from where I grew up. Along with my love of politics and writing, style is also something that is very important to me.

Style is who you are and who you want to become. My style is one thing I would like to be remembered for. This is something I hope to start achieving during my first and very exciting semester as an intern at CollegeFashionista.

Anyone can have style. It doesn’t take an endless bank account or a model size figure to look like you just walked out of a Vogue photoshoot.

Part of my daily happiness consists of a good cup of tea, the daily morning news and of course, a great outfit. Even if you don’t enjoy tea or watching the news, everyone receives joy from putting on a new pair of shoes or slipping on that pair of jeans that you swear were made just for you.

Regarding my personal style, I have a few fashion rules to live by: 1. You can never go wrong with a clean button-down shirt or flannel. Whether it’s from J.Crew or you stole it from your dad’s closet, it’s always a good idea. 2. A sturdy leather bag is your best style investment. You can never spend too much on good leather. 3. “Fall” and neutral colors are for all four seasons, no matter what anyone says.

My day always starts with the thrills that await me in my full closet, clothing rack and my dresser drawers. As a recognized shopaholic, dressing is a hobby of mine and if I’m already dressed, chances are I will try to help dress someone around me. Currently, my style influences come from Lauren Conrad’s sweet and feminine style or Olivia Palermo’s clean and chic looks.

While preparing for the upcoming semester, I am casting off my Summer wardrobe by channeling my love for fall a little early and disregarding the fact that it is still very hot.

Here, I am wearing a horizontal striped T-shirt dress with an army green jacket paired with black leather slingbacks that feature a chunky heel. For accessories, I have on my everyday Fossil watch, a tan leather messenger bag and a gray wool, large brimmed hat.
Stay tuned this semester for more articles from me about my new favorite campus trends!
