STYLE GURU BIO: Alexia Panakos

My name is Alexia! I am from Vaughan, Ontario, in good ol’ Canada, eh? In 2014, I graduated from my two year Fashion Techniques and Design course at George Brown College, took a year off to work at a dance costume company and will now return in September for the Fashion Business Industry course. Other than fashion, I really love dancing, being a nerd by watching anime and making costumes to wear at conventions, playing games and generally enjoying life by working towards my dreams! I really love traveling and am currently trying to learn Cantonese.

I currently have my own clothing brand called GHOST GiRL GOODS, where I design and create Hip-Hop x Pop fusion clothing. Ever since the beginning of high school, I knew I wanted to get into sewing. I had thought of all these brand ideas, but nothing really felt like it would work. However, in 2014, I came up with GHOST GiRL. I actually got that name thanks to the Cantonese slang word for “white girl”, which literally translates into “ghost girl”. It was then that I felt like this was the beginning to my brand’s future. My goal is to one day have my brand worn and sold in Japan (if you can’t tell by now, I really like Japanese and Asian culture).

What’s my personal style like? Well, its a big mix of things! Firstly, I love polka-dots and bows. I am a sucker for anything small and cute! I wear a lot of Japanese clothing brands, but I occasionally buy from Forever 21, H&M, American brand Charlotte Russe and any other random stores that I find things in. Some of my favourite Japanese brands are 6%DOKI DOKI, UNIQLO and Galaxxxy.

My current outfit consists of Galaxxxy’s popcorn dress and a cute cat face purse decked out with mini cat keychains!

Stay tuned for lots of fun and colorful outfits from me and snaps of others!
