STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Thrifty Nifty

When you are in college, you are surrounded by people coming from all different backgrounds. Fashion in college has evolved over the decades, but we always see trends coming back. The great thing about fashion is that it is timeless! Thrifting is a great way to find timeless accessories and clothing items for an affordable price that fits a college budget.

My favorite part of this look is the vintage ’80s leather boots. Thirty years ago, fashion was eccentric yet classic. This Fashionista’s boots look like they could be from the ’80s classic Pretty in Pink. That movie portrayed everyone’s style because it was in a high school setting.

I have always adored the fashion in these ’80s teenage films. We have always considered the decade of the ’80s to be erratic, colorful and full of big hair. At the same time, the ’80s brought us timeless fashion trends that we still see today, minus the big hair.

Although this Fashionista modernized this look with a button-front skirt and wide brim hat, the boots give this outfit a western feel. Throwing in all types of fashion into one look is what makes style!

Today, people of all ages head to thrift shops to find vintage goods. Shoes are an essential part of an outfit. People are always on the lookout for a unique shoe that will make them stand out in a crowd. Why throw away clothing when someone else can appreciate it?

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Simplicity isn’t always boring. Just because something looks simple doesn’t mean it’s not fashionable. Never think of thrifting as a last resort, you might be surprised on what you find.”
