STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: The Flare That Flatters

Are you one of those people who does a little dance to get your skinny jeans on? If you answered yes, you’re not alone. We’ve all been there and many of us have been living in our skinny jeans for the past few years. There’s another style of jean, however, that is starting to make a comeback: the flare jean.

When I think of the flare jean, I immediately go back to the ’70s when this style was at its peak. The boho, hippie look was in and it wasn’t complete without a pair of bell bottoms. It was an iconic look of this decade and, now, it’s back.

The great thing about this jean making a comeback is its versatility. The wide leg jean can be paired with a simple button-down blouse and a blazer for a more professional look. On the contrary, the flare can be paired with a cropped sweater for a more casual-chic style. Regardless of the look you’re going for, make sure that the length of the jean is exactly right. When worn correctly, the jean can make your legs look like they go on for miles. The hem of your flare jean should just barely skim the floor.

This Fashionista decided to pair her flare jeans with a simple, white top and a long, tassel necklace. She also wore her Michael Kors booties to elongate her legs and keep the jeans from dragging on the ground. The simplicity of her top and shoes keeps the focus on the flare jean for a casual-chic look.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “The flare jean adds a vintage look to any outfit, and I love that I can wear them for many different occasions. Whether I’m going to class or going out with my friends, the flare jean is a perfect asset. I like a more slim flare, but the bell bottom jean is definitely fun and unique.”
