As winter is upon us, I can’t help but be attracted to all things cozy and, unfortunately, all things cozy include my bed. January and February are more of my hibernation months if anything. Coming from a seasoned (pun intended) winter hibernator, I can tell you that a cozy pair of socks is your best friend (you know, those super fuzzy ones with the rubber dots on the bottom only your closest friends have seen you in). The perfect pair of chunky socks is nothing short of necessity. That being said, socks are probably one of the most underrated and least talked about article in your wardrobe.
Boot socks, ankle socks, thigh-high socks, frilly socks—they all have the ability to complete or make a look. This week’s Fashionista styled her black thigh-high socks with a red knit sweater layered over a black collared-shirt paired with patterned shorts. I’ve never been a fan of layering shorts with tights; I like the idea of pairing them with high socks instead, it’s much more edgy to me. Try styling tall socks by utilizing layers: pair these over a pair of black tights with a flowy dress and sweater, then finish with tall lace-up boots.
Some frilly socks are a cute way to get out of a dreary winter slump. They’re totally not just for grade-schoolers anymore. They look adorable paired with a pair of high black heels (try these) and add some femininity folded over a pair of Dr. Martens. In the meantime, I’ll be hibernating for the spring wearing these.
