STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Sheer Elegance Meets Distressed Denim

There is truly no greater joy in the world than being a first hand witness to some of the best street style in the world. Interning for CollegeFashionista has allowed me to meet people from all over the world (Poland, London, Australia, China) and understand how each and every one of these Fashionistas’ styles differ from one another. I always seem to be attracted to the easy, breezy boho look, which this Fashionista clearly exudes. This outfit is everything I have ever strove for when putting together my own outfits, effortless but quintessentially stylish. I literally did a double take when I saw this Fashionista and practically ran her over.

There is absolutely everything to adore about this outfit, but for starters it’s that beautiful layering we see going on up on top. No, she did not just throw on a classic, beautiful vintage tunic, she tailored it to define her own style. This outfit is precisely put-together and that is what makes it amazing. With a muted gray tank top to dissuade from the see through chiffon this brilliant gown radiates, this Fashionista pairs the two colors to perfection. The pale pink tunic slip works nicely with the gray tank top and hides any fashion blunders that might occur when you wear see-through chiffon. I immediately asked this Fashionista first about her vintage gown which, do not forget, is host to some exquisitely crafted sequined flowers at the bottom and second, about those to-die-for Margiela Tabi ballerina flats! With a humble nod, as to simply say, “Yes I can rock anything, we get it, now get my good side,” I sank away on a cloud and went to heaven! What makes this outfit stand out to me, is the way she paired the dress with none other than a pair of ripped up denim jeans. Oh, the happiness I feel when a stylish person knows how to balance designer and vintage finds, respectively.

There are so many creative elements to this outfit that I truly admire on this Fashionista. We all should bow down and take a page out of this Fashionista’s book when she expertly models that one bag is just never enough. Here she has one simple canvas bag AND THEN one vintage Chanel cross-body bag. Swoon! The little details are what really get me. It’s the cute little fedora/Pharrel type hat, those precious rings and that heavenly Yves Saint Laurent silver feather cuff that really push the whole outfit up the ladder and into Fashionista paradise.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Try not to overthink when you are getting dressed. The best outfits stem from the very notion that not everything is supposed to match and not everything is what it seems. Have fun and play with your clothes.”
