Style Advice of the Week

Scarves are the essential accessory for all seasons. There are heavy knit ones for fall and winter; light ones for spring and summer and some in between that work for those transitional periods. They are a great layers of warmth and add an extra dose of chicness. Now that we’re a week into March, this means that we can shed some of our heaviest layers. With spring hopefully coming soon, we can store our heavy knit scarves into the back of our closets and bring out lighter ones.

I spotted this Fashionista wearing a paisley patterned scarf with a blue shirt, floral skirt, thigh-high socks and clogs. Her outfit includes light layers like a shirt and skirt, and heavier pieces like her thigh-highs and scarf. She mixes patterns like florals and paisley, but keeps them within the same blue and white color palette. For a night out with friends, keep the scarf and skirt. Then add a leather jacket, a simple T-shirt and a pair of ankle boots.

For a cute spring look, pair this H&M scarf with a black denim jacket, striped crop top, floral skirt and black boots. Accessorize with a floppy hat and a cross-body bag.

Scarves work for all occasions from meeting your professor to internships to shopping to wherever. It is an easy way to update your outfit. Just toss one around your neck and you’re out the door. Even if you own some already, there is nothing wrong with adding a few more in your closet.
