STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Respect The Capri Pant

Current trends means currently hearing my mother laughing that I am wearing exactly what she wore at my age. The ’70s and ’80s are back and in full swing. Stores such as Urban Outfitters are making money off of bell bottom pants and fringe coats. On weekends, every teenager is throwing on rainbow glasses and heading to whatever festival concert they can make it to. Although no one is driving baby blue vans covered in peace signs or heading over to Woodstock, everyone is definitely dressing like they want to be there. How can anyone blame us for wanting to take part in a time that was fueled by love and acceptance of all? It’s just unfortunate that none of our parents saved their stylish, vintage clothes.

The latest collections at London, New York, Paris and Milan fashion shows all sported one similar and unexpected trend, capri pants. The cropped pant is just one of the many ways Fashionistas are rocking the new midi length trend. This plays into the ’70s and ’80s trend perfectly. People are rocking cropped pants in every form from a tailored work pant to a crazy pant with a dropped front.

This Fashionista sports her cropped pants in a light wash destroyed denim.  She pairs these bright pants with some minimalistic jewelry, such as her silver ring and a thin bracelet. Throwing on an oversized leather bag and some purple sunglasses makes for the perfect, modern interpretation of the cropped pant while keeping a little bit of the ’70s in her look. She makes sure to keep a pop of color in her effortless look with some dark red lips that are more feminine and timeless.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I love the new capri trend. One way to avoid spending money on it is to roll up a pair of your favorite boyfriend jeans. This makes the look affordable and makes old jeans look brand new!”
