STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Aristocratic Runway Ensemble

You saw it all throughout fashion week from New York, to Paris to London. Alexander Wang, Calvin Klein, Phillip Lim and Theyskens’ Theory all showed a little skin in translucent fabrics as they grazed the runway along side an array of textures and patterns. What do you get when you throw all of these concepts together and strip back the life of color? An aristocratic ensemble on a beautiful Fashionista.

Although in all-black, what gives this outfit its character is its mixture of fabrics. Her black slim-fit drawstring pants have a thick woven feel, while her semi-sheer chiffon blouse hangs loosely tucked in the front and flows freely in the back.  Her statement leather bag complements her Vagabond leather Dioon boots, which by the way you can find on sale at the Urban Outfitters surplus—hint hint to my fellow Chicagoans! These statement elements give taste and appeal to the overall appearance while at the same time giving it an edginess that stands out. Lastly, this Fashionista chose to top off her outfit strongly and loudly with a snake printed Michael Kors trench. The colors of this trench contrast beautifully against the all black and the assortment of materials.

What is your STYLE ADIVCE OF THE WEEK? “I sometimes do not think of black as a negation of color. Sometimes it contains all color; that’s what makes it so interesting and intriguing to wear. It is quiet but can make a statement, it’s so easy! You can still utilize your spring elements and incorporate them in to make a killer outfit!”
