STYLE ADVICE: Casual With an Edge

Here in the Midwest, as we introduce the New Year we also introduce those colder winter days, so long sleeves and boots are essential. However, there are times during the season when we get days where the temperature goes up about ten degrees and we can ditch our winter coats for a little while as we jump from building to building. On this Friday afternoon, that is exactly what this Fashionista did as she ran some errands downtown.

When running errands around town, it’s never fun to have to carry a large coat around. So my advice to anyone who’s thinking of going out on a chilly day is to layer. This is essential to keep yourself warm both indoors and outside throughout the day. This is your chance to add in that cute jacket you haven’t worn since fall or the statement piece that has been hiding in your closet for the past couple months. This Fashionista chose to wear a denim button-up with an embroidered collar and a long sleeve choker crop top underneath. She then paired this with a pair of distressed black skinny jeans to absorb more heat and some staple black booties. Then to give the outfit a little flair she added a shiny black and gold Michael Kors crossbody bag. All in all, this outfit was both casual and with an added edge so she could easily transition into the Friday night scene.

She was able to stay both warm and stylish as she ran around town and hopefully this advice will help you be able to do the same. I hope you all had a great holiday and that the new year brings in many more opportunities for you to express your unique style!
