WHAT TO WEAR: Class

What to Wear

It may be -30 in Montreal but this Fashionista braved the cold to show off her gorgeous outfit. Class is a place where you should be comfortable enough to sit through it but it should also be somewhere where you can show off your unique style too. This Fashionista has certainly accomplished that as her outfit seems comfy enough to wear on a school day, but it has a real kind of edge to it.

What I really love is how she kept her ensemble simple yet pretty original at the same time. She stayed with natural tones here like this light salmon colour for her blouse. This natural look is perfect if you’re going to wear eccentric statement jewellery, as you don’t want the look to become too heavy and you want the jewels to stand out the most. Her necklace and her bracelet are actually quite unique as they have a certain geometric design and vintage feel to them. They were purchased in a little jewellery boutique in Toronto but you can find these types of pieces in shops like Topshop that also have the same kind of fun, fantasy jewellery. So you can really have fun with collecting and mixing pieces from big retail stores and little boutiques or even vintage markets!

A nice, classic twist to black leggings is a high waist. Here the Fashionista made an even bolder move by opting for leather high-wasted leggings, which contrast well with the loose blouse, as they are also very form-fitting. The black leather ankle boots are also a refreshing change from the typical tall boots. They really allow for the leggings to be shown off nicely. These ankle boots can truly give a quirky edge to any outfit, you can even wear them with a dress or for a casual night out.

So just because you have to go to class every day and it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you have to stop having fun with your clothes. Experimenting with different styles will make your day way more enjoyable!

One Simple Change: For a presentation or a meeting with a professor, change the booties for either ballet flats or heels and pair the outfit with a neutral formal blazer.
