BEAUTY BAR: Holiday Goddess

As we enter into the Christmas season, it’s common for us Fashionistas to drool over the latest festive pieces and struggle with decision making.  Straight or curly hair for the holiday?  Red or deep red lipstick?  Yes, these are small factors, but hair and makeup contribute a great deal to your look.  The braided crown is a very flexible up do.  Whether it’s for a Christmas party, a hot date or casual dog walk, this hairstyle will do you well.  Okay…the dog walk was a joke, but you’re guaranteed to stop traffic.  The braided crown takes 10 minutes to do, at most!  If you’re looking for a holiday beauty look, without trying too hard, keep reading.

Every one of us at some point in our lives has failed miserably while testing the waters with a DIY up do. However, I promise you’ll be able to pull this one off!  The first step is to part your hair down the middle and evenly distribute it into two halves.  Then, simply braid each half into pigtails at the lower back of your head, using clear mini rubber bands.  Once this is complete, you will take each braid and bring them up so they lay right behind your ears.  I suggest using bobby pins to set those babies in place.  It’s up to you to decide if you want to crisscross the ends of the braids at the top or set them side-by-side.  To create a more playful, effortless look, you can pull the braid apart very slightly to make it appear fuller. As well, you’ll want to keep some small pieces of hair out in front to frame your face. This Fashionista curled hers and voila! Look how beautiful.

To complement this braided masterpiece, she threw on a dark wash pair of jeans, a wide neck neutral sweater and her favorite pair of winter booties.  As for accessories, nothing more than a pair of diamond studs, a gold statement necklace and a hunter green hand purse were necessary. This Fashionista wore natural makeup, accented eyebrows and a bold lip for color. Bold lips are a big trend right now and picking a classic color such as this red makes the look versatile for any occasion the Fashionista might decide to attend.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: For the braided crown, you will need a brush, bobby pins of your hair color, clear rubber bands and hairspray!  There are numerous shades out there for holiday lip colors, all with varying prices.  This Fashionista above wears Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Liquid Lip Potion. For a lower end brand, check out Maybelline Elixir Lip Color.  To get those flawless brows, Anastasia Brow Wiz is a must-have.
