BEAUTY BAR: Gone Fish(tail)ing

Although summer has not officially arrived, school’s out, exams are over and beach days look to be closely approaching. From personal experience, I know the hot summer air does not take favor to longhaired beauties. Warm weather calls for putting one’s hair up to avoid the tangled and matted look that perspiration can bring. In North Carolina, summer and humidity go hand in hand and to avoid looking as though you walked out of the house without taking any account to primping your hair, a fishtail is the best solution; especially if you have overused the traditional go-to braid.

At first glance, a fishtail braid can look overwhelming and you may be telling yourself, “I could never learn how to do that.” But I assure you, it is actually easier to learn how to master than a traditional braid. I quickly learned by simply looking at a visual tutorial that outlined pictures step by step from Pinterest. For those of you who may want a more extensive approach, YouTube has plenty of videos that outline a more in-depth method.

Fishtails are perfect from any occasion in my opinion. Whether you’re out running errands, going to dinner with friends or attending a concert on a perfect summer night, a fishtail braid will impress onlookers who are also thinking, “I wish I could learn how to do that!” Not only will you appear super stylish, but you’ll also look on top of your game in the beauty department. This Fashionista pulls off the perfect fishtail braid when paired alongside a romper with a bralette, House of Harlow necklace and causal sandals.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: To get a fishtail braid, all you need is a mirror, an elastic hair tie and a little practice and you’re good to go!
