If you’re a girl in Gainesville who loves fashion, then odds are that you’ve heard of (or spent a lot of money at) boutique Wolfgang. Located just off campus in one of the busiest sections of the city, the chic store offers styles that are different than your usual brand names, while still remaining trendy and relevant. Let’s face it; as much as we love our retail mega-stores, sometimes in a small town like Gainesville, you’ll end up on campus in the same Forever 21 outfit as two or three other girls. And who wants that, right? If you’re looking for a unique piece or an outfit for a special occasion, Wolfgang is the first place you should stop, so I thought it was only fitting to feature the boutique for my very first AROUND TOWN post.
Name: Matthew Turner
CollegeFashionista: How long have you owned Wolfgang?
Matthew Turner: I’ve owned the store for seven years. We also have a store in Jacksonville, which my business partner started.
CF: How would you describe the girl that you’re trying to sell clothes to?
MT: We originally opened the store with the intention of bringing something to Gainesville that was completely unique to Gainesville – to bring clothes and ideas here that weren’t being done by other stores. We still hold true to that and we still do that. A lot of our clientele is Greek. We’re so close to sorority row…so of course, I try to cater to them, but still holding true to what I think has style and merit.
CF: How many different brands or labels have been in the store?
MT: Since we’ve opened, we’ve had well over fifty brands in the store. We carry brands from all over the world – Sweden, Copenhagen, London, Australia, Italy and, of course, the United States.
