ALL IN THE DETAILS: The Damask and Dutch Duo

Having that one exciting piece in an outfit is great for creating a dynamic look. Shopping around for that one shirt or dress that you can plan a whole outfit around is a sure fire way of looking chic; however, sometimes it’s the details that pull an outfit together. The addition of a beanie or the perfect pair of socks, can take your simple basics to the next level. This also shows your expertise in styling. By accessorizing your look to a tee, you are sure to be the best-dressed nominee.

This particular Fashionista caught my eye with some striking details. Firstly, her patterned pants are sure to grab some attention. In a sea of leggings, this patterned denim stands out from the crowd. The Damask print is subtle in color, but strong in design. It puts a modern twist on the classic patterned pants that have been in style for a while. The design also adds texture to the outfit. This allows her to pair the jeans with a comfy T-shirt like blouse, and boots. The balance of the black on top and the black on bottom frame the pants perfectly.

Similarly, her hair puts a strong stamp on this outfit. Instead of a simple ponytail or even fish-tail braid, this Fashionista is working an around the head braid. It’s an old-fashioned, Dutch-inspired look that you can see in every fashion magazine nowadays. Braids are not something I have mastered, so I was quite jealous when I saw hers. Adding this detail was the perfect way of complementing this simple outfit without taking it over the top. You can catch me Pinterest-ing “how to’s” for this look well into the future. I will master it one day.

How To: This look can be accomplished with the pairing of simple basics you probably already have in your closet. Pull out your patterned pants and pair them with simple colors and comfortable fabrics. If you don’t rock at hair styling like me, you can finish off the outfit with a fun headband or bright lipstick instead.
