ALL IN THE DETAILS: STAND OUT

It’s 2016 and things are really shifting in the fashion world. Remember when there was a time when statement pieces were saved for the special occasions and no one felt like they were wearable? Well, fashion designers have finally got it right. Statement dresses are so comfortable and easy to wear now. Exhibit A: this Fashionista I spotted at the mall this past week. Any dress with bright colors or a cool print is considered a statement piece to me, and during the summer, the brighter the better.

This dress is perfect for the summer. The material is light, the heat won’t overtake you because it’s not black and you can wear any accessory or shoe with it. The fun part about the dress is the open back. It’s a subtle, yet slightly sexy way to show a little bit more skin without showing too much. This Fashionista opted for a lace-up style, braided sandal in a cool tone of grey. Grey is the new neutral brown. It’s great for adding dimension to a black and white outfit or anything suede. The second most fun thing for me to do is wear statement jewelry with a statement piece. This Fashionista nailed it with this elegant tear drop earring, that matches the base color of her dress. This works wonderfully so that it doesn’t overwhelm the print of the dress. To top it all off, she wore a bracelet of stacked beads, appropriate for the accessory obsessed teen, and the stylish minimalist.

Almost entirely dressed by Altar’d State, this Fashionista gave us some great ideas for stepping up casual wear for the summer.

How To: These fringed flat sandals from Zara are the cutest way to dress up any T-shirt dress, or dress down a statement piece like this one. Add accessories that go a long way, like this BaubleBar bracelet you can find at Nordstrom. Dramatic earrings are always a go in my book.
