ALL IN THE DETAILS: Sneaky Girl

We’ve all seen it, or possibly even let it happen to us. The typical no-shower-just-came-from-the-gym look may even be your go-to after a long night of studying, working late or partying. At the very least you wear your gym shoes, because let’s face it college students, getting dressed is hard. But, you know what isn’t hard? Finding that the perfect shoes, regardless of the outfit, are your gym shoes (or some version of them).

What do you get when you cross a pair of sneakers, a camel-colored wardrobe staple and an on-the-run college student? This very eye-catching Fashionista, of course. Her sneakers being the standout element of her ensemble are perfect in more ways than one. First of all, the colors are neutral enough to be paired with even the most colorful of outfits. Secondly, they look so comfortable it’s no wonder she was grinning ear to ear. And lastly, they complement the rest of her outfit so well that even I don’t think heels could have worked. Her patterned blouse and simple trousers may have been a great look on their own, but were superbly enhanced with the edition of her sneakers. To top off her ensemble, she layered with a season-less edition of a trench coat. A trench coat is a timeless piece; honestly, who couldn’t love the versatility of a piece that can be worn in the spring and winter?

If hordes of men and women spotted at fashion week are sporting sneakers with any ensemble, so can you. Whether you are darting from one runway show to the next, or you are just seeking comfort for a long day of classes, sneakers really are your saving grace. I have come to realize activewear companies want to outfit your life, which includes getting you to wear their product beyond the gym. Fortunately, there are non-gym sneakers available that actually work well for any event in our busy lives. While they may not be sturdy enough or water-resistant to combat the snow and ice, they are an equally comfortable (and probably more stylish) alternative to those clunky winter boots.

How To: Killer heels killing your heels? Swap out your tired pumps for fresh kicks. With so many colors and fits, it will be hard to decide which ones look better!
