ALL IN THE DETAILS: Pretty In Peplum

Spring is in the air, which means it’s time to toss out your long sleeve tops for short sleeves. This season is my favorite partly because I showcase the more girly aspect of my style in spring. I over wear florals, lace and bring bright colors into my wardrobe. A trend that stands out the most in the spring: peplums! I love how this trend translates on tops. It’s a fun and feminine twist on your standard blouse. Most girls are not even aware of the term; a peplum is basically a short, flared strip of fabric that is attached at the waist of a jacket, dress, skirt or blouse.

This Fashionista is wearing the most adorable peplum top. White, with lace texture details and a pop of coral at the waist. Her top gives her shape, accentuating her waist and creating curves. This Fashionista’s look is simple, girly and casual. For bottoms, she wears a pair of dark wash jeans. For shoes she has brown sandals, the best part of warmer weather, open toe shoes! She then finishes her look by accessorizing with a Dooney & Bourke cross-body bag.

Peplums do a great job for women of all ages and silhouettes. They do justice to both skinny and curvy figures, making each type look good. Peplum tops nip the natural waist and are also great for masking not-so-flat stomachs. Nevertheless, regardless of your shape, I honestly think this is a trend most women can pull off. Just be conscious of your shape and wear what works for you—more often than not, you’re either a top or a bottom peplum kind of girl.

How To: Want to show off your figure or the opposite, conceal a trouble area on your body? The peplum trend is the one for you! It’s a versatile trend which translates on tops and bottoms.
