ALL IN THE DETAILS: Big Brimmed Fedora

The sight of McGillians no longer in puffy down coats is a sure sign that the weather is finally warming up, albeit painfully slowly. Faces are no longer entirely covered up with thick wool scarves, and noses are no longer perpetually frozen. We are all more than ready for spring, and now is definitely the time to start dusting off those cute ankle boots, floral patterns and pastel colors and, most importantly, the adorable springtime accessories buried at the bottom of your drawers, beginning with that classy fedora.

This Fashionista centered her outfit around her black fedora. The rest of her look was very neutral and basic, with a warm knit inside her black jacket. The brown, wooden buttons on her knitwear echoed her briefcase backpack, which was also a gorgeous orangey cedar-brown. The Fashionista told me that she found this unique statement backpack in Winnipeg and was a piece of home that she always carried with her. Her knee-high boots tie the entire outfit together, adding a touch a femininity. With a simple and classy outfit like this, the big brimmed fedora really pushed it up a notch. It framed her face beautifully and was eye-catching.

How To: For a classy winter/spring transition outfit, wear a long jacket and some over the knee boots to elongate the figure and keep the focus on the fedora. For a warmer, casual springtime outfit, pair the fedora with a cardigan over a patterned dress, a pair of knee-high socks and some loafers.
