While strolling the streets of L.A., I spotted this Fashionista waiting for her bus. My eyes were immediately drawn to her bag. I had just recently finished an article stating that statement bags are a must-have. Well, that cross-body bag was a statement if I ever saw one. With a beautifully detailed almost 3D-esque horse on the front, this leather tote was no ordinary accessory. This Fashionista donned a Peter Pan collared dress and a tan leather jacket with matching wedges. The well selected ensemble highlighted the bag by using simplicity to its benefit and drawing on details of the bag to pull the entire outfit together seamlessly.
As I said statement bags seem to be in lately, specifically clutches. Nowadays, you can’t step out of your house without seeing a clutch with big bold letter proclaiming “hello,” “oui” or my personal favorite, “normal is boring.” I initially began seeing these boldly detailed clutches popping up in collections around springtime, but they gradually made their way into the summer wardrobe, and I couldn’t be happier. Besides the bantam statements, there have been plenty of other pocketbooks picturing beach scenes, skylines, retro fashion photographs and faux newspaper prints. There are even bags shaped into fruits, animals and insects! Overall, these bags are the perfect summer accessory for nearly every outfit.
How To: To get this look I would suggest picking you bag first and building your outfit around it. You don’t want your outfit to be too busy and end up clashing with your dauntless purse.
