ALL IN THE DETAILS: Back to the Future

As summer fades out, in come next season’s essentials. But don’t pack away your summer pieces just yet! Because aiming for style in the midst of major humidity is a constant struggle, the weather-transitioning months are prime time for wardrobe rule breakers. With just a few styling tricks, combining your warm weather basics with a pair of chunky boots will have never looked better on you.

Rocking metallic Dr. Martens in the middle of July was a bold move for this Fashionista. A trend usually reserved for Christmas and New Year parties is now a brave summer look that is metallics. Whether you’re going head-to-toe or prefer subtle accents, the 2016 pre-fall collections of Gucci and Christopher Kane provide endless metallic inspiration directly from the catwalk. And luckily for us, there is no shortage of cool metallic shoes right now either! From boots to loafers the metal trend is moving straight from the runway and onto the streets fast. Stores like Zara and Topshop have already jumped on board, and now it’s your turn.

As futuristic vibes meet the past, the choker has made its comeback in a major way. The necklace we used to score with arcade tickets in the ‘90s has now made its true fashion debut. Fashion bloggers like Chiara Ferragni and Aimee Song have even been seen in the festival fave. The tattoo choker is a guilty pleasure. We’ve resurrected them, and despite their bizarre history, we still dig ’em.

How To: Nervous about wearing metallic in the daytime and feeling overdressed? Start from the bottom; shoes are the best way to ease in!
