ALL IN THE DEATILS: Good Girl Gone Plaid

As I’m sure we’ve all heard a million times, trends always make there way back around. Whether you loved or hated the trend, nine times out of ten it is going to pop back up to the forefront of fashion.

This week we are taking a trip back to the ’90s. I ran into this Fashionista rocking a 90’s classic, the shirt tied around the waist. Whether you are headed to class, a night out or a tailgate, this trend will be sure to give an edge to your look.

A plaid shirt has always been a staple for any lazy day for me. You can dress it down with a pair of jeans or doll it up with some shinny leggings and pumps. The options of a plaid shirt are endless.

This Fashionista has brought light to an old trend. Typically back in the day when this was executed it would be with a simple a tee, pair of jeans and the infamous shirt around the waist. Now 20 some years later we’ve taken this oldie (but obviously a goody) and given it a serious update. We are taking shirts around skater skirts, dresses and, of course, over our denim.

This look has the ability to be preppy or grunge. Our Fashionista has clearly taken the route of grunge. All black ensemble with the needed pop of plaid, she is obviously ready to take on the day. The acid wash denim jacket gives way to her grunge look with those knee-highs and booties.

Oh! Don’t forget to pile on the accessories. Whether you’re making this trend grunge or preppy, you can never go wrong with some hot jewels.

How To: My favorite way right now to recreate this ’90s look is effortless. Dust off your leather leggings and an oversized sweater, and tie that plaid shirt around your waist. And don’t forget to add a killer pair of booties and some serious accessories.
