WHAT TO WEAR: Workout

As we get further into the semester we settle into our schedules, which means we finally can make time for working out. While BBG (Bikini Body Guide) is a huge summer trend, jogging and running are a big fall tradition. The weather is at that perfect point between sweltering heat and frigid cold. So, it’s really the best time of the year to go for a run.

A quote I keep hearing is, “strong is the new skinny.” Now, more than ever, women want to workout for the sake of fitness and strength. With this growing health and fitness trend, a new style has emerged. I call it the workout cutie look. In every class there is at least one person present who is wearing workout gear, and we all have that one friend who has a collection of brightly colored Nike sneakers. It’s not just for practical purposes anymore. As more women become fitness-minded, more companies start to make trendier and more stylish workout gear. Because of this, the trend of wearing fitness clothing in everyday life is spreading like wildfire.

This Fashionista was on her way to run at our local Rail Trail when I found her. Her look is simplistic and indicative of this trend. From the neon Nikes to her gray work out tank top, this Fashionista rocked this look. She was also wearing black yoga pants, a favorite of mine. Overall, this was an ideal workout look. It had utility, style and the right amount of flair to make it an amazing example of the new workout trend.

One Simple Change: When the temperature starts to drop, I would add a quarter-zip workout jacket to keep warm while jogging outdoors.
