WHAT TO WEAR: Winter

During these cold, winter months (for those of us who live on the East Coast), everyone breaks out the UGGs, sweatpants and warm clothing. Dressing warm doesn’t always mean dressing fashionable, so don’t let that drive your motivation for wearing lounging clothes every day. However, there are always ways to dress warm and be fashionable during these winter months; this Fashionisto showed me that it’s certainly possible to do both.

This Fashionisto went for a more relaxed, street style look. He paired a long sleeve, two-toned, lightweight sweater and a Polo vest together to give you that relaxed look on top. Wearing a lightweight sweater under a puffer vest will keep you extra warm for those colder nights. On the bottom, you will see a light-wash jean paired with black Tubular X adidas. I really liked that this Fashionisto went with a light-wash jean instead of a darker look. The light coloring and fading in the pants really make the outfit pop in a subtle way. Choosing to go with the sneakers were a very nice touch because they give his look that street-style feel (If you ask me, they kind of look like the shoes that Marty McFly wore in Back to the Future.) To finish off his outfit, he accessorizes with a gold Nixon Time Teller watch. Adding in a simple staple, such as a watch or really any other minimal accessory, will really tie in everything in the outfit and complete it.

Whether you’re in on the East or West Coast, just remember that the way you look should always be important to you, and you can make a statement wherever you go. The statement doesn’t have to conform to any type of trend, just make sure it’s unique enough yet identifiable to yourself.

One Simple Change: Going from class to a party or a fancier setting? Try switching out the vest and lightweight sweater for a black peacoat and a button-down knit sweater.
