WHAT TO WEAR: Winter

March 3rd, 2015 at 2:00am

Are you sick and tired of the cold and dreary winter?  Unfortunately winter still far from over, but you should not let the cold weather, snow, and rain keep you inside.  It is important to have footwear that is waterproof, warm, comfortable, and (most importantly for Fashionistas) fashionable. Bean boots are all the rage on college campuses across the country.  However rugged, masculine, and dare I say ugly, bean boots seem to appear, they are a staple trend in many college students’ wardrobes during the winter months.

Sammie, a Fashionista at UD, keeps her outfit comfortable and stylish on a cold winter day.  She pairs her coveted bean boots with medium wash jeans and a nude cardigan.  For extra warmth and a pop of color, she adds a knit, plum infinity scarf to the outfit.  To make the ensemble more preppy Sammie wears white and gold anchor earrings.

Similar to boat shoes, the bean boot has been integrated into everyday wear.  With its intended purpose being protective wear for hunting and outdoor activities, bean boots have made their mark in womenswear, but also menswear. L.L.Bean has certainly made its mark, protecting the feet of men and women for all occasions and in all kinds of weather.

One Simple Change: When temperatures drop below zero layer this outfit with a warm puffer coat or long anorak for ensured warmth.  Wear patterned, fuzzy, or cable knit socks that peek out the top of the bean boots to give the outfit unique and personal flare.
