WHAT TO WEAR: Weekend Wear

April 24th, 2015 at 2:10am

It is important to keep in mind that men’s fashion is just as relevant as women’s fashion. In the same respect, there are staple pieces that every man should have in his closet. This Fashionisto’s outfit includes a classic button-up collared shirt and a pair of chinos that work on an everyday basis.

As I have said in previous posts, layering shows originality as well as practicality. By layering a blue merino sweater atop a dust blue collared shirt, the look becomes more dressy and dimensional. The navy blue chinos work as a neutral base and continue the business casual feel. The simple black Nixon watch is perfect for the weekend, and it has style but does not have an enormous face like some of the men’s watches that we find nowadays. The key to his look is his classic chestnut colored Sperry Top-Siders. He told me that Sperry Top-Siders are his must-have item: “With Sperry Top-Siders on, the world is my boat. But in all seriousness, I wear them with almost anything.”

This California native has exemplified a perfect casual, cool look that still has a strong element of style. His outfit is perfect for the weekend because it is refined and appropriate for meetings, wandering Seattle neighborhoods or taking his girl out for dinner.

One Simple Change: On a warmer day, ditch the pullover sweater, and just wear the polished button-up. Either try a simple long sleeve button-up or a short sleeve button up, which is a spring time favorite. Button-ups are a great way to still be comfortable, and they add an element of class without having to wear a suit or blazer.
