WHAT TO WEAR: Weekend Wear

April 6th, 2015 at 2:00am

Say hello to spring but not hello to warmth. The sun may be shining, but it is still chilly enough for students to wear jackets, coats or vests. This Fashionista and I discussed our love for vests and how they are our go-to staple piece for warmth. We agreed that vests of all styles, especially faux fur, puffy and fleece are perfect for staying warm, and they are also great as the focal point in an outfit. Her ensemble is perfect for running errands, relaxing with friends or at the library, catching up on homework and preparing for the week ahead.

This Fashionista does street style right by creating an outfit that screams effortless yet very trendy. She wears a chunky black knit sweater and a basic black camisole underneath for extra warmth. The eye-catching piece of her outfit is her bold red puffy vest. It instantly changes her black and white monochromatic outfit to one with a pop of color. She pairs black leggings for ease and comfort. Lastly, this Fashionista wears a University of Michigan favorite: the classic white Converse. These sneakers are a comfortable and smart shoe choice since weekends in Ann Arbor are usually spent walking place to place rather than driving.

One Simple Change: After a long day, are you headed to dinner with friends or family? Swap the leggings for high-waisted jeans, and switch the Converse for a pair of black boots. Add a darker shade of eyeshadow or eyeliner, and you’re ready to go.
