WHAT TO WEAR: Weekend Wear

The dog days of summer are upon us and what’s a better way to celebrate than taking a mini road trip with one of your closest friends? For many summer is filled with non-stop work to save up for those expensive textbooks, but when you do catch a break I highly recommend taking a short trip to a nearby town you’ve never been to and start exploring! This is exactly what this Fashionista and I did when we jumped in the car and turned up our latest music obsession Chance The Rapper and hit the road for Yellow Springs, Ohio. Only an hour drive from our hometown of Cincinnati, this free-spirited place is full of unique cafes, hole-in-the-wall coffee shops, trendy boutiques and a super friendly palm reader (a cool check off the bucket list).

It seems as if Ohio has been especially hot this summer, so much so that you constantly are wanting to be submerged in a pool. The weekend of our getaway it was scorching hot and unlike myself (who happened to be wearing black) this Fashionista was prepared to stay breezy regardless of the rising temperatures. Beating the heat in a flowy maxi dress is the perfect way to avoid those shorts that always find a way to stick to you. My favorite part about this look is how she effortlessly added on a simple cropped shirt from Urban Outfitters to break up the dress. I’m definitely style stealing this idea since it’s a great way to keep changing up your look with different T-shirts.

To keep her outfit looking fresh I loved her flea-market-find bracelet and necklace so much that I’m now on the hunt for similar ones. Simple gold earrings help bring together the gold accents on her adorable Coach satchel that bring fun, vintage vibes. This is a fantastic size for all of your exploring necessities and helps keep your hands free. Her favorite pair of Birkenstocks make for a comfy choice no matter where our adventures took us, even if it was to a Whippy Dip for a much needed ice cream cone.

One Simple Change: Want to revamp this look for a girl’s night out? Although Birkenstocks might be comfy, amp up your footwear while keeping the free-spirit aesthetic of this outfit by dressing it up with my new favorite pom-pom trend seen on sandals. These are the cutest shoes that are sure to get you multiple compliments while having more adventures with your girlfriends.
