WHAT TO WEAR: Weekend Wear

I don’t know about you guys, but I always love finding a sharply-dressed Fashionisto when I’m style stalking around campus. Who says ladies are the only ones who love to dress up for class? When I spotted this stylish student, I first noticed the strong lines of his look. From the color-blocked jacket, to the bordered shorts and rad sneakers, this Fashionisto nailed weekend casual from head to toe.

Starting with the shoes: usually my rule of thumb is to simplify the outfit on top if your shoes are loud enough to be the star of the show. While this Fashionisto’s shoes are definitely worthy of the term “show-stealers,” the rest of his outfit is bold enough that it all works together to create a cohesive look. I think the color scheme is what really pulls it all together. Keeping a base-line of black and white, this student incorporates color with the block of rich caramel tone on the jacket and a pop of red on the soles of his shoes. The color keeps things light and makes the look more appropriate for spring.

Plain old basketball shorts get a chic upgrade in a more structured fabric with thick, white lines bordering the hem. I love the slits on the sides, as well; the lines come to a point and create a flattering silhouette on the legs. Bonus points for the patterned front pocket, which adds a totally unique vibe to the shorts.

A crisp white T-shirt grounds the top of the look, while the black lettering ties in the dark leather sleeves of the jacket. Speaking of the jacket, I absolutely love the uniqueness of it; the leather and suede look so smooth together and the color-blocking gives it an original feel. Try a similar piece thrown over a white button-down and dark wash jeans for a dressier look. Overall, this ensemble is comfortable enough to walk around in, but it has a super modern, sleek vibe to it.

One Simple Change: Want to take this look from say to night? Swap out the shorts for a dark pair of jeans, and the sneakers for a cool pair of Chelsea boots to keep the look streamlined.
