WHAT TO WEAR: Traveling

Summer is finally here! And you know what that means—adventuring! All around the Pacific Northwest, there are incredible hiking trails, waterfalls and places to be explored. With hiking being a free activity with little planning needed, it is the perfect college kid getaway for the weekend.

Whether it is a weekend showing your parents around your college town or a little adventure with friends, this outfit won’t let you down. Especially when hiking where the air may be moist (like a waterfall), a flannel will usually keep you warm, dry and fashionable. I recommend wearing a tank top or T-shirt underneath, like pictured as well.  My go-to when wearing a flannel is usually a casual graphic T-shirt or a loose T-shirt.

This Fashionisto is sporting some khakis, which are easy to roll up in the occasional encounter with nature, along with some flip flops as easy shoes to slip off when treading water.  He is also wearing one of my favorite trends at the moment, Shwood sunglasses (which are made right in here in Portland, Oregon!). And you can’t forget an adventuring backpack to hold all of your hiking essentials. I am a huge fan of REI adventure wear and they make pretty awesome adventure backpacks. Now that you have all of the essentials, you’re ready to hop out of class and onto a hiking trail around your college town.

One Simple Change: If you are running to a casual date night or going out with the guys, swap the flannel and T-shirt with a nice button up and swap the flip flops for some Sperry Top-Siders.
