WHAT TO WEAR: Tailgating

For the first time in 64 years my school has not only assembled a football team, but played a game as well. Approximately 2,800 fans filled the stands and cheered on Lyon College with unwavering support, despite suffering defeat. Needless to say, the whole town was pumped and the tailgating was pretty legit.

Let’s be realistic: the first football game, whether in high school or college, always takes place in August. It is ridiculously hot outside and sitting on metal bleachers only makes it ten times worse. Why on Earth do people find the need to wear jeans and heels to a sporting event at the end of the summer? I’ll never know.

For outside events around this time of year, you can’t go wrong with a pair of shorts and T-shirt. For our first game, the school had custom shirts made, as seen above, and given to students. If you’re given a shirt for a special event, wear it! There is nothing like seeing an entire student section showing their school spirit and sporting the same shirt!

As I said earlier, it makes absolutely no sense to wear uncomfortable shoes, such as heels, to a football game. Whether you’re heading to the concession stand, the bathroom or even just socializing, there’s a good chance you’ll be doing plenty of walking, so stick with a more comfortable pair of shoes.

For makeup, continue to show your school spirit! Bright blue eye shadow, bold red lips, as seen above or any makeup in your school colors are perfect for school sporting events! However, make sure you stick to only ONE school color. This Fashionista wears her red lipstick wonderfully and adding the bold blue eye color would have been entirely too much.

One Simple Change: To get ready for your afternoon workout or even a morning run, ditch the makeup and switch out the denim shorts for an athletic pair.
