WHAT TO WEAR: Spring

Spring can be a challenging month to dress for since the weather is constantly changing. One day you may be wearing an adorable maxi dress for 70-degree temperatures and the next you’ll have to bring your parka back out to brave the rain and chilly wind. Despite the pretty pastels and colorful pieces shown in stores and online right now, it can be hard to motivate yourself to wear these bright spring outfits without enjoyable weather. That is why I suggest crafting your outfits so you have a good basis of neutrals that you can wear in any season. You then can add a bright pop of color to channel your inner lover of spring and give your outfit the extra boost it needs.

This Fashionista is doing just that by complementing her gray neutrals with a bright floral scarf. Her graphic tank top and rolled up jeans are perfect for any spring day spent out and about. However, I really like how she experimented with using two different shades of gray. The color gray often gets a reputation for being boring, but by having a charcoal shade for the pants and a lighter one for the tank top, it makes the color appear less plain. To supplement that color experimentation, the bright red scarf is the perfect accessory to take this outfit from winter to spring shades. I also like how she mixed the graphic print of the top with the floral print of the scarf. Many people shy away from too many prints in one outfit but since both are so subtle, it definitely works in this case. Therefore, be sure you take a chance this season by mixing patterns and colors to add unexpected elements to your outfit.

One Simple Change: This outfit is perfect for class or an afternoon at the farmer’s market, but it could very easily be turned into a nighttime look for dinner with friends. By swapping out those white sneakers for a pair of black strappy heels, everything in the outfit gets taken up a notch. Grab a black clutch and you are ready for a night on the town.
