WHAT TO WEAR: Spring

Spring has finally sprung—here in New York City the flowers are in full bloom, the skies are bright, and the world is filled with beautiful color. Surrounded by so much spring cheer after such a long, cold winter slump, it can be easy to be inspired to imitate nature and follow the typical spring trend of dressing head to toe in pretty florals and vibrant hues. This Fashionista blazes her own trail by going totally minimalist for spring, and what a wonderful shock of the status quo it is.

This look demonstrates that less really can be more, and you don’t have to be uber-feminine to rock a chic and bold spring style. Classic combinations like black and white are often acknowledged but overlooked. Everybody knows they work like a charm together, but this combination is considered so typical and normal at this point that it is cast away for fear of looking boring. This Fashionista’s look incorporates great lines, a killer bag, basic accessories, and confidence.

Because of the recent warm weather, this Fashionista can afford to rock this breezy duster from ASOS and some gorgeous lightweight culottes, which you can find a similar pair to at Madewell. The accessories in the look are few, working to further highlight this Fashionista’s minimalist flair. She wore a vintage belt, Pandora bracelet and simple silver hoop earrings.

The real star of this look is the purse. The Fashionista’s bag ties the look together with coordinating colors and stands out with its boxy frame. This particular bag is the beautiful Stag Bag from Etienne Aigner. The bag is clean and beautiful in black and white and pops with the tan suede and reptile print accent details. All in all, it was a real showstopper.

One Simple Change: While this looks is perfect for the more edgy girl to take a spring stroll in, it’s still sleek and sophisticated enough to be pulled off at night too. By swapping out the socks and lace-up booties for a simple pair of heels and throwing on a bold lipstick, this look could easily take you from a walk in the park to a night with your girls.
