WHAT TO WEAR: Spring

The sun is shining, the birds are out and I have Alvvays playing on repeat. Spring is finally here! We were certainly due some beautiful weather in the Northeast after such a long haul this winter. I’m in heaven, and not just because I can finally go outside. There’s nothing I love quite so much as seeing my fellow Fashionistas and Fashionistos embracing the gorgeous weather and breaking out their favorite spring looks. Marist College is really turning out the fashion and embracing every second of the weather.

I spotted this Fashionista on the way to class and was immediately obsessed with her dreamy, pitch perfect look. She is the exact picture of spring-chic and serves as the perfect reminder for a “less is more” philosophy. While sometimes I have a tendency to throw everything on before I leave the house, she kept it simple, and it really paid off in a big way. She started her look with the perfect spring dress from Urban Outfitters. It is loose but not shapeless and flatters her petite shape wonderfully. The ikat-inspired print gives the dress an earthy, eclectic vibe that speaks for itself. The earthy, neutral tones keep the dress from overpowering her and let her natural beauty shine. Her look is so effortless that I caught myself sighing in envy when I first saw her.

She finished off her look with a double layered necklace that pulls back in her earthy theme with its elemental details and the coolest pair of sandals I’ve seen so far this season. They’re the perfect modern gladiator and add a really cool throwback vibe with a little bit of edge to this Fashionista’s sweet take on spring. I love that they’re neutral beige instead of a darker color. Darker gladiators have a tendency to feel a bit heavy and overwrought, but choosing a lighter shade makes them fresh again!

When embracing the spring weather and putting together your outfits, remember to stay true to your personal style and aesthetic, but don’t be afraid to opt for simplicity. Find an easy dress, keep your jewelry light and grab some completely rad statement sandals to pull everything together. You’ll be good to go and ready to enjoy soaking up the sun.

One Simple Change: The best part about this look is its versatility. You can take it just about anywhere, but it would be great for a girl’s night out with a swipe of deep plum lipstick and sky high wedges.
