WHAT TO WEAR: Spring

Spring fashion typically means a lot of bright colors, floral patterns and lace. Though with each new year, the fashionable cuts or shapes may change, one can always count on the vibrant colors and cool pastels. Sundresses, skirts and tops seem to be the most common colorful pieces of use. However, around campus recently, I have been noticing people embracing spring colors on more than just sundresses or tops. Fashionistas and Fashionistos alike have been sporting jeans and leggings that add a pop of color to their springtime outfits.

I caught up with this Fashionista as she was hanging around the Terrace on a gorgeous sunny afternoon. I am obsessed with her pastel pink jeans with small white polka-dots. They add a subtly sweet pop of color to her adorable ensemble. On top, she wears a white blouse with lace detailing around the neckline. A dark wash jean jacket is a great contrast to otherwise light colors. On her feet, she wears a pair of tan combat boots. Her outfit is cute and casual; a perfect ensemble for those bright spring days.

Colorful bottoms are such fun additions to any spring or summer outfit. They allow you to add colorful pairings to more neutral tops. Colored jeans, such as this pair from Anthropologie, or leggings, like this cool pair from American Apparel, are wonderful for those spring days that are a bit cooler in temperature. Who says dressing warmer has to be boring?

One Simple Change: To bring these colorful bottoms into evening appropriate attire, simply switch up the top and shoes. Your outfit will go from cute and casual to fun and flirty with just a few simple changes. Swap your basic T-shirt for a more flowy tank top and add a pair of wedges.
