WHAT TO WEAR: Presentation

Now that the semester is well underway, chances are you either have already given at least one presentation or have one quickly approaching. Whether it is a group effort or solo performance, it is still important to make the best first impression possible. Now is your chance to both wow your classmates with your great style and achieve that much coveted “A” on your project. When you need to look put together and professional yet dressed-down enough for your other classes, consider putting a more casual spin on the classic pencil skirt and blazer.

I found this Fashionista giving a presentation in my Marketing class. Not only did she rock the presentation, but she also aced the business casual look. Her tailored, salmon-colored blazer is a younger and relaxed twist on the usual black jacket. Instead of going for the pencil skirt, she opted for a more flowing, floral skirt in the same colors as the blazer. Since the weather at Notre Dame can still be frightful in February, she accessorized the look with subtly patterned black tights and shoes, which match her black top. She left her hair down for a sleek look.

By adding a pop of color in the blazer and the skirt, she injects personality into professionalism. When I like the outfit that I am wearing, my confidence is affected. What better way to boost your confidence right before a presentation than with a great outfit? You will feel great and more relaxed.

One Simple Change: This outfit could easily be transitioned into one suitable for business casual internship positions. Exchange the flats for a pair of black patent leather heels and you are ready for a day in the office!
