WHAT TO WEAR: Monday Mornings

February 9th, 2017 at 2:10am

As we reach the middle of winter here in Michigan, Fashionistas/os across campus are layering multiple pieces to endure the walk to and from class. With the unpredictable afternoon weather it is hard to decide what to wear each morning, especially Mondays. Starting your Monday in a stylish outfit can kick start the rest of your week! What better way to brighten an early morning than in a cute and comfortable outfit?

This Fashionista was found after an early 8 a.m. lecture layering staple pieces needed in all wardrobes. Morning lectures are never easy for anyone, especially when it is the first class of the day. Sweatpants and cozy sweatshirts always sound the most appealing for an early Monday start. This Fashionista mastered the cozy look while still dressing up for class!

White T-shirts and black jeans can be paired with multiple different pieces for any occasion. The Fashionista styled a white T-shirt tucked into black jeans and layered with a light wash denim shirt.  Outfits like these can be taken from casual to dressy with a change of accessories and shoes. Add a leather jacket and heels for a night out, or simply layer it with a scarf and cardigan for a cute and casual look for class.

This Fashionistas’ outfit is composed of multiple neutrals but her scarf and belt create the perfect statement pieces. The deep green of her scarf and the plum shade of her belt stand out against the light denim. The two colors simply tie the whole outfit together. Her look is effortlessly cute for class without being over the top for a Monday morning!

I find that styling shoes like Vans and Converse can sometimes be difficult when the shoes often create a statement of their own. This Fashionista paired her outfit with Steve Madden slip-ons. The quilted detail as well as the small silver stud near the heel soften up the look of her outfit and still allow a statement like the statement Converse or Vans could create.

Since spotting this Fashionista on campus, I have used her as inspiration for many of my outfits for early morning classes. Simple pieces can be accessorized with sneakers and scarves perfect for lecture, but later dressed up with a quick shoe change and jewelry to meet up for dinner with friends after class!
