WHAT TO WEAR: Midwinter Cold

January 16th, 2017 at 2:00am

Don’t get me wrong, winter can be enjoyable, especially in the beginning when all of the snow is pure white and the idea of cold weather for months hasn’t sunk in yet. But once you hit the middle of winter when the snow has turned to ash gray and the cold just won’t go away, winter is no longer enjoyable and the reality of winter hits… really hard.

In order to combat the dark and cold winter months, it is important to keep staple items in your closet such as turtlenecks, long sleeves, scarves, and long coats. These pieces will be your go-to items on cold days when all you want to do is throw on some sweats, curl up on the couch, and binge watch Netflix. When you want to look put together but not put in any effort, these items will never fail.

Turtlenecks, whether they are in sweater or dress form, along with scarves and long sleeve items are the perfect mix of practical, warm, and fashion. You can go ahead and dress up the turtlenecks and the long sleeves however you please with the addition of jewelry, jackets, and scarves to make it more personal to your style. I would recommend sticking with neutral colors for turtlenecks and long sleeves if you plan to accessorize with colorful jewelry and scarves.

When trying to finish off your midwinter outfit, wool coats are an excellent way to keep warm while still remaining fashionable. So if you’re looking to step outside often this winter, wool coats are a great investment that will last for a multitude of years.

This Fashionista’s outfit is the perfect example of how comfy can still be fashionable in the winter months. This Fashionista stuck with the neutral colors of gray and black for this look. She wore a gray turtleneck which she paired with black leggings and booties, and ultimately finished off the look with a black wrap scarf for extra warmth. I love how this Fashionista kept her look simple but still chic all at the same time!
